Prototype of the BlowHazard Web App: System for oil spill hazard analysis of oil well blowouts.
The prototype has been implemented in the North Sea, verifying its capabilities in a real environment:
In the event of an oil well blowout, the user can identify in real time, through the Web application, i) the area potentially affected by the hydrocarbon at certain thresholds of environmental, human and/or economic impact and the probability of contamination on the coast; and ii) the time of arrival at the coastal area.
The BlowHazard system will contribute to improve the environmental and social performance of the oil and gas sector as well as the prevention and response to accidental pollution from offshore activities, which will contribute to environmental protection and conservation of seas, oceans and coastal areas, responding to the Societal Challenges; to increase the control of polluting activities, in line with the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 14. Life Below Water); to the European Green Deal to reduce pollution and to the sustainable growth of the marine and maritime sectors in line with the Blue Economy strategy.
